CYAN CAM
A Windows screen recorder with system audio capture and automatic local MP4 saving. Supports Windows 10 version 2004 or later and Windows 11, x64. The desktop interface supports Vietnamese and English.
Install
Download the complete CYAN CAM 2.6.0 Windows installer (EXE)
Run the EXE to install the app. It includes the .NET Desktop Runtime, NAudio, FFmpeg and FFprobe. No separate Python, Node.js or codec installation is required. The installer creates a Start Menu shortcut, offers an optional Desktop shortcut and registers an uninstaller in Windows. Uninstalling preserves your recordings and settings.
If the product page downloads a ZIP, that is the portable/update package. Use the EXE link above for the installation wizard.
Sign in and stay signed in
Every user must sign in to a CYAN PRO account, including free users. Select Tạo tài khoản to create an account on the website. When CYAN CAM is free, no paid plan is required and the purchase button is hidden. When the product is paid, an active plan is also required; Đăng ký gói opens the CYAN PRO plan page.
Successful sign-in opens the recording workspace. Your session is remembered automatically. Reopening the app restores the saved session and renews access tokens when needed, without asking for your password while the session remains valid. Sign-in is required again after signing out, session expiry or revocation, or removal of the saved session data.
Passwords are never stored. Session tokens are encrypted with Windows DPAPI for the current Windows user. The app verifies access at startup, before recording and every 15 minutes. If access is revoked during a recording, it stops and saves the video before blocking further use.
The first sign-in requires Internet access. After successful authentication, free accounts can work offline for up to seven days; paid accounts for up to three days, without extending their license expiry. A known mandatory update can block use until it is installed.
Interface language
Open Settings → Language and choose Tiếng Việt or English. The interface changes immediately, including sign-in and recording controls. The choice is saved for the next launch; restarting or signing in again is not required. The language selector is also accessible from the sign-in screen through the settings button.
Choose what to record
- Màn hình — Display: select the main display, another display, or the entire desktop.
- Vùng chọn — Region: select Chọn vùng and drag to mark the recording area. Press Escape or right-click to cancel.
- Cửa sổ — Window: select an open window. Keep it open and at a stable size. Minimizing, closing or resizing it during active recording stops and saves the video. A paused session checks the window again before resuming.
Audio and quality
Enable System audio, Microphone, or both. Select the playback device and microphone independently. Adjust each recording volume from 0–100%, including while recording or paused; 0% mutes that source. Disable both sources for silent video. Devices, source selections and volumes are remembered for the next launch. These controls do not change Windows device volume. Use ↻ to refresh connected devices. If the microphone cannot open, check microphone access for desktop apps in Windows Settings. Headphones help prevent speaker sound from entering the microphone when mixing both sources. Reduce source volumes if the combined sound distorts. Choose 15, 30 or 60 FPS and a video quality level appropriate for your PC.
Automatic microphone volume
Enable Microphone → Auto microphone volume to raise quiet speech, lower loud speech and limit peaks to reduce overload caused by amplification. Toggle during recording, pause or test-sample capture. Your choice is remembered; it defaults to off to preserve existing capture settings.
Processing order: optional noise reduction → automatic gain and peak limiter → microphone volume slider → mix with system audio. The slider controls the final level; 0% still mutes the microphone. System audio and Windows device volumes are unchanged. Gain adapts over a short time and avoids chasing near-silence. Use noise reduction alongside it for noisy rooms. If the microphone or driver already clips, lower its input gain in Windows; downstream processing cannot restore distorted source samples. All processing stays on the PC.
Microphone noise reduction
Enable Microphone, turn on Microphone noise reduction and adjust strength from 0–100%. Toggle or adjust it during recording, while paused or while capturing a test sample. The choice is remembered. Filtering defaults to off to preserve existing recording settings. Disable it or use 0% for unfiltered microphone capture.
The filter reduces relatively steady background noise such as hiss and fan noise. It processes only the microphone; system audio is unchanged. Start around 40–60% and use Test microphone to compare. Higher strength may make speech less natural. Adaptation takes a short time; nearby voices and sudden noises may remain. Processing stays on your PC. The microphone meter reflects the filtered signal after recording gain.
Audio meters and microphone test
Separate source meters show recording levels, including silent, signal, muted and paused states. Levels near 0 dBFS turn red; reduce gain if the signal is too high. Meters operate before and during recording. Disabled or muted sources show no signal.
Enable Microphone and select Test microphone. Speak for about 3 seconds; the sample is then played through the playback device selected in the system column. Select Stop test to cancel. Samples stay in memory without being saved or uploaded. Starting recording, minimizing or closing the app stops the test. The test button is unavailable during recording. Idle level monitoring operates while the app window is visible and the source is enabled.
Record, pause and save
Choose a local output folder and filename prefix. Filenames include the date and time; existing recordings are not overwritten.
| Key | Action | | --- | --- | | F9 | Start recording, or stop and save the current session | | F8 | Pause or resume recording | | F10 | Stop and save, including while paused |
You can also use REC, Tạm dừng / Tiếp tục and STOP in the app. Pausing stops both video and audio capture and freezes the timer. The recording outline turns yellow. Resuming starts a new segment with the same settings. Stopping joins the segments into one MP4; paused time is excluded.
The app minimizes when recording starts. A red outline and recording label mark the active capture area. You can turn the outline off before starting. Minimize, maximize and close controls are at the top right. Drag the header to move the app and the edges to resize it. Closing an active or paused recording stops and saves it first.
Updates
Open the settings gear to check for or install an update. CYAN PRO supplies the version and download link; installers and update packages remain on GitHub Releases. Automatic installation waits until there is no active or paused recording session. ZIP packages are checked using SHA-256 and the executable version before files are replaced. If replacement fails, the updater attempts to restore its backup.
Install in a user-writable folder so the updater can replace app files. Recordings and account settings are stored separately and preserved across upgrades.
Recovery and local data
After a power failure or unexpected exit, select the same output folder and choose Khôi phục video in settings. Keep the .mp4.parts directory and the .recording.mp4 files inside it. Recovery saves each readable segment separately; the final incomplete fragment may be lost.
Videos stay in your chosen local folder and are not uploaded. CYAN PRO receives sign-in details, a hashed device fingerprint, device name, platform and app version for account, device and license management. Settings, encrypted sessions and logs are stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CYANCAM.
Limitations
This version does not include webcam recording or video editing. Protected DRM content and UAC secure desktop screens may appear black. Stop recording before unplugging or changing audio devices; an unexpected device failure stops and saves the recording with an error message. The installer is currently unsigned, so Windows may display a SmartScreen prompt.
